Recently i have been so busy with school, work, and fixing up my new house that i haven't had that much time to be out taking pictures.
It is really sad because I have a Canon Rebel XT EOS digital camera which i used to use almost every day, and now i mainly use it just to take pictures of lanyards and badges at work.
Although it is hardly what i would call "fun" i have learned a lot about my camera since i use it daily at work.I bought my Rebel about a year ago and i had never even touched an SLR before. The buttons on the back and the rotating button on the top had me quite confused, and being a male i didn't even consider reading the instructions. Therefore i loaded my cf card into the side and set off to see what kind of pictures i could take.
The first thing i learned was the "fully automatic" setting, this setting choses: Shutter speed, aperture size, ISO speed, white balance, and whether the flash should be used or not, you choose this setting by scrolling the round rotating button on the top to the setting that is just a small green box. I actually didn't use many other settings besides this one for the first few days of owning the camera.
The second thing i learned how to use was the "flash off" button, it is quite easy to use. You simply turn the rotating button until the arrow is pointing at the symbol that looks like a lightening bolt with a line through it. This setting properly adjusts Aperture size and exposure time so that your picture is still bright enough without using the flash.
After using these settings for a few days i was ready to experiment with the other choices
Sports mode: For well-lit outdoor shooting with extremely fast shutter speed so there is little to no blur in your pictures
TV: Where you choose how long you want your shutter to remain opened as well as how bright you want your picture to be.
Once you've gotten comfortable with a few of the settings you'll be ready to try the rest for yourself! so get out there and start snappin' because you don't know what you may be missing!
